Since 1986, El Golfo participates in CIDERE, a non lucrative corporation which is aimed at the economical and social development of the region through the application of low investment and simple technologies.

FISHERIES RESEARCH INSTITUTE (INPESCA – www.inpesca.cl)

El Golfo is one of the members of the fishing industry group which sponsors this private Institution. Researchers from different disciplines study the behaviour of marine resources, thus becoming an efficient support tool for their adequate management.

BIO BIO REGIONALIST CORPORATION – (CORBIOBIO – www.corbiobio.cl)

Ever since its foundation in the year 1984, El Golfo has been a partner to this Corporation. Its main objectives which are fully shared by El Golfo, are the creation of a conscience over the importance of regions and the promotion of a decentralization process. These objectives are also promoted in the private industry and in Government public services.

REGIONAL INSTITUTE FOR COMPANY MANAGEMENT (IRADE – www.irade.cl)

Together with other 48 important companies, El Golfo is associated to this institution and is currently a member of its Board of Directors. The mission of IRADE is to contribute in the integral development of companies and to help in the creation of a social capital by implementing and maintaining confidence networks, by encouraging collaboration between private companies and the public sector, by stimulating business excellence, by promoting innovation and venture and by becoming a central meeting point for the systematical concern on business management and its current and future approach.

HIGH TECHNOLOGY EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTE (CEAT – www.ceat.cl)

The initiative of creating a Technical-Professional institute with state-of-the-art technology, was the result of a Program developed by Fundación Andes, an institution which encouraged regional enterprises to invest in a project that would directly benefit their productivity and that would promote regional development specially, the inter commune Concepción-Talcahuano.

It is under this scenario that El Gofo and other companies founded this High Technology Educational Institute –CEAT- in 1993 which is located in the commune of San Pedro de la Paz. The professional institute is provided with high standard laboratories, workshops, departments of information technology, mechanics, electricity, electronics, and graphics and with an auditorium among others.

Kids from first to fourth year of high school attend this Institute and are instructed in the technical and general education areas all under a new infrastructure, equipment and methodology. The formation of the students is oriented at meeting current and future needs of the regional industry.

Kids willing to apply to this institution must do so during the month of October, each year. For this purpose they are to forward a certified copy of their evaluations for 7th and 8th grades of Primary School, a Personality Report and Birth Certificate.

VISITS TO THE COMPANY AND PROFESSIONAL PRACTICES There are many private and public high schools and Universities from Concepción and Talcahuano that visit our facilities, as their first approach to the industry. Later, El Golfo offers many of the students the possibility of performing professional practices in different areas, among which we can mention:

Technicians in Sea Resources – Universidad Católica Technicians in Food Control – Universidad Federico Santa María Experts in Risk Prevention – Universidad Federico Santa María Accountants : from different technical and accounting high schools. Captain, Pilots and machinery engineers for Fishing Vessels. Secretaries Different professional areas from the program Chile Joven, aimed at the fight against poverty among youth. Engineers of different professional areas from the different Universities in the area Technical high school students included in Dual Training Program Students from the Universidad del Desarrollo

DUAL TRAINING

Dual training program practiced by El Golfo allows many students from different industrial high schools to complete their formal technical-industrial education in our company. Students from 3rd and 4th years of High School have the chance to professionally practice their knowledge on field thus enhancing all practical aspects related to their specific area of skill and labour life. These students are evaluated on a half-yearly basis by each Head of Department, in accordance with a training plan previously developed by the Educational institution.

El Golfo is currently having several high school students completing their formal technical education for some days a week. These come from different technical high schools such as Liceo Técnico de Concepción, Liceo Industrial de Hualpencillo, Liceo Industrial de Concepción and Liceo Industrial Federico Schwager.
