Since year 2001 Chile has a new legislation aimed at the protection of marine resources. This legislation promotes a rational and sustainable catch through yearly determined fishing quotas. These quotas are set based on scientific studies. Quotas established for each fishing company will be valid until year 2013.

Under this regulatory framework, El Golfo confirms its permanent commitment and concern with the environment and with the development of a sustainable fishing. Thereby, it is possible for the Company to achieve a better use of the resource and value added products. It also allows a larger diversification of products for human consumption.

The innovation and development of new products have made it possible for El Golfo to have access to new markets which, together with its important fishing quotas, allow the company to be able to assure highest quality products to its current and future customers.
